Hi Adam,

First off thank you very much for these photos. Unfortunately this is not a cicada killer wasp. While they may look similar this is actually what is known as a European Hornet (Vespa crabo). The bands and yellow patterns in this European Hornet are extremely bright yellow where on the Cicada killer wasp they are not as dominant. More information on the European Hornet can be found here:

Thanks for sharing these photos however. Even insects that have been misidentified as cicadas or cicada killers hold value in that they educate the layman and help in identifying insects properly.
