This cicada was found on my back sidewalk in the last throes of life, three days after Hurricane Irene blew through the area.

Hi Gary,

That certainly looks like a beat-up cicada. Based on what I can see, this cicada looks to be a male Tibicen lyricen. Also known as "The Lyric Cicada". These cicadas are one of our common cicadas found in New England. It is just about coming to the end of their season now so it is a great find.
