Update from Blue Springs missouri. I found this nymph in a mud turret. Looks like they are going to emerge in the next night or so. Looks to be fully mature.

Thanks for the update. That nymph is definitely mature now. Just so you know, the cicadas are emerging en-mass in Eureka, Missouri. No calling yet though. Since you're further north and west it won't be long for you.

Your specimen looks to be M. tredecassini as it is very small.
